Influences VI

I have not said much about my mother on these pages.

She was a beautiful woman who perservered under difficult circumstances. She gave birth to eight children but lost two of them to early deaths. She lived to see her adult children become productive and healed. She lived long enough to enjoy the doting of those same children, her grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. She possessed the wisdom of the plain-spoken. Her perspective was that of somebody who had been knocked around by life, but glad to have come through on the other side. She became the apple of our eye.

My mother died last week, and my sadness is without bounds.
